Yesterday a huge chunk fell off a cliff face somewhere at the seaside in Dorset onto a beach. It hit the news headlines and I didnt pay too much attention. But then today on my timeline someone had posted pictures of people in Edinburgh trying to secure the sides of Arthurs Seat ( large extinct volcano which is a favourite place to walk and ramble for Edinburgh folks) because some large rocks had fallen off the side of it into the road which runs round the bottom of it! I was about to post a comment along the lines of ' it must be the day for landslides' when I suddenly felt that Holy Spirit nudge.

Over the years I have learned to keep an eye and an ear open for those ' odd coincidences' which can so easily slip past us unnoticed. God often uses these quirky happenings to speak to me. So what, I wonder, does He have to say about landslides and rock falls?
Apparently the Dorset landslide happened because the bottom of the cliff is clay, the top is sandy and there has been a lot of rain which has destabilised the land. As I sat thinking about that my mind was drawn to the phrase ' feet of clay' and I looked up the story in Daniel where that phrase originates. Chapter 2:31 onwards tells the story about Nebudchanezzar's dream of the statue. The kingdoms which the statue represents were all destroyed by a rock which was ' cut out of a mountain - but not by human hands' Here is a photograph of the road round Arthurs seat the other morning
Those would be a few rocks cut out of a mountain but not by human hands eh? 😀
The news about the landscape of the UK today has reminded me that the Kingdoms of this world are the kingdoms of our God. And He shall reign forever and ever. He has already crushed the serpent's heel and brought an end to the rule of death and hell. The rock has smashed the feet of clay and the statue has fallen into the sea. It's easy to forget as we look around this crazy world that God has already sat down, put His feet up and declared ' it is finished'.
